Xref layers

Hello,
I'm new to xref's, and wanted to know if there was an easy way to turn off
specific xref layers by clicking on an element on that layer.. For
example, I have a very large xref with dozens of similar layers, and I'd
like to turn off one or two, without "trial and error" method of Layer
Manager. Is there a way?
Thanks,
Steve

The Layer Freeze command should have a 'nesting' option.

In a veiwport Try 'vplayer' then 'f' for freeze then enter and select
layers to freeze in current viewport.
