Fixed parameter ?

Not sure the best way to do this.

our field crew have been using "TRED 24 OAK" for 24" oak tree.

In our old software, this would insert deciduous tree block, scale it by 24 & create a label "24" OAK". one down side is we didn't differentiate between trunk diameter & canopy spread. most of the time it worked ok though.

In Carlson I had them use a code of TRED SZ50/12" OAK

works well but like previous post, we're hitting character limits.

so, I looked at Fixed Parameters, help is a little basic on the topic but, using our old coding & size & description as first to fixed parameters & seperate layer for description, I can get it all except for the 12" in the description.

anyway to make TRED 24 OAK insert & scale a block by factor of 24 & leave a dwg description on the point as 24" OAK?

Just FYI, anyone who reads this, Carlson support resolved this for me. Pretty clever, description for my TRED code is " symbol & first fixed parameter is prefix description, second fixed parameter is append desc.

so TRED 12 OAK, gets 12" OAK pnt. att.
