f2f/code definition question

Postby geodetic » Wed Mar 28, 2012 10:27 pm

Our drafters want just one layer, the job number to have all the points, point numbers and connected lines on it created from f2f.

Is there a way to do this with using either the code definitions or a different method?

Running 2009 Land Desktop on windows 7 64 bit though I doubt that makes much of a difference.

Really??? EVERYTHING on ONE layer? To me, that does not make any sense, but then, different strokes for different folks.
You can go into your .fld file definitions and set all of those items to come in on one layer, but you would have to redo that for every job as the layer name would change each time. The points are blocks, so they will come in on the current layer, but retain their pntdesc, pntno, etc. layers unless you explode the point blocks.
Probably the easiest way to do this is to let field to finish do its thing and then do a mass change command and set everything to your desired layer.
Personally, I would teach my drafters ther importance of layers and how to use them.
