Plot by descriptions

Postby SWB » Tue Apr 17, 2012 5:42 pm

Hi, I'm an old C&G users and trying to to make the leap to Carlson Survey. What I would like to do in Carlson is import an txt file (pened) and have the point #, symbol and descriptions placed on predefined layers. I do not want the pntno., pntelev, pntdesc, layers created in Carlson. For example, if I have a smfd as a description, how do I place the pt# and description plus attributes on a layer called property pins and the symbol placed on a layer called Final Plan. I would like to do this with field to finish using numerous descriptions and layers.
TIA

Edit the Field Code definition & change "Separate Attribute Layers" to anything other than "None" & you can then click the "set" button next to it & set layers.

This question comes up quite often from C&G users, so there is a point that I am not getting. I am running Carlson Survey 2010 and it contains CG-Survey in it. Is this not true in later versions.

Yes C&G is included in the 2012 Carlson Survey version. My shop is moving away from C&G and plans to use the Carlson Product from field to finish. We currently do are preliminary plan in C&G and it is finalized in Microstation.
Our coding system was set up years ago using numbers as the code to collect data in the field and the plotting(Layering) is done by descriptions, and their attributes in C&G.
