Carlson Survey 2013 w/embedded ACAD
Is there a command that lets me select points by their attribute?
( like the ASELECT command in ACAD)
TIA!

Click on the "SETTINGS" tab, then go down to "POINT OBJECT SNAP ON OFF".

Thanks for your reply.
In re-reading my post, I see I wasn't very clear.
I am trying to make a selection set, based on an attribute value.
For example: I want to select all points with the same description, like EP.
The command would filter through all the points and give me only those with the description of EP.
This is a LiSP routine, and I can't run LiSP in Carlson. I was wondering if there is a similar Carlson command?

Then what you are actually looking for are what are known as "Point Groups".
Look under "POINTS" for the " Point Group Manager" and create a new point group by description for each group you want.
These groups will be accessable whenever you need them in that drawing.
You can also have Field to Finish build these point groups when you run your *.crd file through F2F. Run you *.crd file and all of your lines, symbols, notes and point groups are built in less than 3 minutes in most cases. From that point on you can recall the points by point groups whenever you want. This file should update each time you re-run F2F.

Awesome.
That is getting close, but now, how do I make a POINT GROUP a selection set?
So I can change their layer or whatever.
BTW, F2F is not an option because I do not always create my drawings, they are from elsewhere.

See, I don't do it that way. Points as a selection set on their own layers is just not something that I ever desired. I build their point groups by descriptor in the Point Group Manager. Whenever I need them I simply Draw locate Points by Point Group and let them come in on theit PNT* layers, do what I need to do and then erase the points from the drawing. The point groups stay with the drawing.
You can take someone else's drawing that has the points in it, open a new crd file and update the crd file from the drawing. Once you have the new crd file, you can create the point groups via the Point Group Manager, or you can open a new drawing and run the crd file through your F2F set-up to create the point groups. F2F is ALWAYS an option.
Just another example of the fact that there are at least 17 ways to skin a cat. If you are into that.

THANK YOU DENT!!!

Thanks!
You helped tremendously! You steered me in the right direction, good advice!
I stumbled upon:
POINTS
POINT UTILITIES
CHANGE POINT LAYER/COLOR
This will get me out of my current jam.
In the future I will try to utilize the techniques that you suggested (and get it right the first time), THANKS AGAIN!

Glad I was able to help!
Another thing, it's not all about "getting it right the first time", it's all about making Carlson do what YOU want it to do. Very few people do Carlson the same way. It's about finding the way that makes sense to you, that you are comfortable with and is, at the same time, the quickest way to save your production time.
There are only a few stedfast "right ways" in the Carlson packages. That's what I like about them. Kinda the "Burger King" of Survey software.
