Leica1200 Import

Postby Ray1 » Tue Feb 13, 2007 11:47 pm

Anyone out there use Leica LGO data? Carlson has told me they are fixing
the Import tool that had a little glitch from a update on the Leica end.
I'm really wondering if the line work in LGO will come into Carlson.

Yes, we use LGO too, but have had the same problem with the Leica 1200
import on Carlson.

It's frustrating as the on-board export to RW5 on the instrument is slow and
also requires editing before Carlson can read it properly.

We have tried exporting in the instrument to various different formats and
then trying to import into Carlson, but the above seems to be the easiest
method so far.

I was told by one of our Leica 1200 Customers that in Carlson 2007 under
Survey / Data Collectors / Leica / "Leica 1200 Series" / "Import from
Leica" --- he was able to successfully import Leica 1200 data with this new
routine.

However, he tried using Survey / Edit_Process_Raw_Data / File / Import /
Leica = this routine did NOT work for him since it was expecting the older
files from everything but the Leica 1200.

We need to make sure and use the proper routine for working with Leica 1200
files under Survey / Data Collectors / Leica.

Hi John,

Which file type does the "Import from Leica" command look for? Is it the raw
data held in the DBX directory on the card? (ie with the .X?? extension).

Thanks,

Oliver

Has anybody had any success with this command at all?

I'm still not even sure what file type the command is looking for - the help
file is very vague.
I don't know whether it is looking for the raw data stored on the data card
or the raw data processed within LGO.
Either way I am still getting the same message: "error:unknown
code -1073741515".

At the moment the only way we can import the data from the Leica 1200 to
Carlson is to export as a text file and raw data file using the on-board
software which is very slow (approx 5mins for a thousand point file). It
would be nice just to import/export direct to the data card.

If anybody has any solutions or hints as to where I am going wrong, I would
be very grateful.

Thanks,

Oliver
