If I use Carlson Survey XML to process my field data and then export as
LandXML (to be imported into Land Desktop 3/4), will my automated linework
be exported in the LandXML file or will the LDD group need to redraft the
linework? Or more simply, does LandXML 1.0 support automated linework?

The answer to your question is no, but the linework that is generated in Carlson Survey consists of native AutoCAD objects (polylines, lines, etc.) so the drawing may be opened in LDD with no problems. There is no way or need to use XML for this transfer.
