We have just switched to Carlson Survey 2007 for Acad. We are setting
everything up and cannot find where to set the path for the symbol
library... We have a a folder on our server with all our our
symbols/blocks and want Carlson to look there for it's symbols. Can anyone
help? TIA
Set up one machine by importing the centrally located symbols into the
symbol manager. (Don't use drive letters, use full UNC paths) When you
are satisfied with this setup, find the "symbols.dta" file on that machine.
Copy this file to a central network location that is read-only for
normal users.
In your "acad.lsp" file, create a function to copy this file from the
network to the local machine at ACAD startup. (Or if you don't think you
will change it often, you could just copy it around manually)
Now everyone is using the same "symbols.dta" file.
IIRC - it won't do any good to add a support file search path (SFSP)
pointing to the network location (to try and avoid the copying of the
file), because Carlson is hardcoded to look for "symbols.dta" in a
single location -- something that we have asked to be changed. There is
no reason that Carlson couldn't search the SFSP for this file like
AutoCAD does for all files.
