Quick Keys

Hello all,

I am new to Carlson Survey, I am running Carlson Survey 2006. I am curious
if there is a way to modify and/or add to the definition list for the
quick keys like you can with AutoCAD or SurvCADD. I have a number of
commands that I am accustomed to having with quick key shortcuts (i.e. REA
= regenerate all) and would like to continue to use those shortcuts.

Thanks, Clark

See the "Command Alias" thread from August 2005 started by BSS.
We have found the work around is fine on machines that previously had
another version of AutoDesk Software installed, but for some reason doesn't
always work on other machines. Good luck.

No. In CS2004 you can create/modify the star.pgp file with your own
shortcuts. But in CS2006, they decided, or Autodesk decided to make it so
you can't customise your own.

John, we are using CS 2007 and the modification works, it also worked when
we used CS 2006, on some of our machines. What determines when it can be
done we do not know, but it seems to work when we previously had LDD
installed on a machine.

Ok, what's the work-around? I can't find that 2005 thread. But, I'm out of
luck then, because this machine has never seen LDD.

Thanks.
John

Search the posts using the "find" command , look for "command alias" under
subject, it should be the first thread on the list. Or... I copied the
relevant posts for you.

From Stephen Rhodes:
If you are looking to set command aliases, you are not supposed to be able
to do this in Carlson Survey.
There is however make a work-around for this.
You need to make an alias file called star.pgp and put it in the same
directory as star.exe
The contents and formatting of this file must be the same the standard
autocad pgp file.
Give it a go.

Reply from Kris at BSS (the company I work for)
Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou!
Yes that worked, I did have to figgure out that you are not running
Carlson 2006 and "star.pgp" was renamed to "surv.pgp" but it worked
great... HOWEVER!!!!!!
Let it be known that we had a previous intall of Acad Land Desktop on
the machnines.. I reacaintly had to replace a Hard drive and reinstall
everything... but becase we dont use LDD anymore I didnt install it..
and now the pgp file will not work. I commpared the reg. of both
computers to see if I could find a obvious key and thought I found one
but it turned out not to work. So, Im trying to unintstall CS2006 and
install LDD first to see if i can get back this function or not. (I also
found that Carlson uninstalls very dirty!!! :( ) If I can find a way
around this or if anyone else has a solution it would be greatly apprecated.

Kris is our tech guy, I will see if he ever figured out a more permanent
fix.

Hey, thanks. I knew about "star.pgp" in CS 2004, but not about changing it
to "surv.pgp" (why?) for the later versions. It works! You've made my life
easier.

Thanks again.

John
