Lines by Direction in XML?

Postby Thomas Zoeller » Sat May 31, 2003 9:06 pm

Is there a command somewhere in XML that allows one to draw linework by
bearing and distance (LDD has a "line by direction" command) without having
to go through the "enter deed description" dialogue box?

If not, can such a command be user created without too much difficulty?

Thanks....Tom

Use the "Inverse" command.

1. Go into the Cogo menu and click on "Line On/Off" to turn lines on. This
only needs to be done once in a drawing session within the same drawing.

2. If you don't want to draw points, go to the Points menu, click on "Point
Defaults" and uncheck the point numbers field. Remember to turn points
numbers back on when you want to draw points such as field located points.

3. Start the inverse routine by entering "I" on the command line. Pick a
point (by clicking anywhere on the screen, entering coordinates, or picking
a point number) to start drawing the lines from. Finally, enter "T" (for
traverse) on the command line.

From there, just follow the prompts; enter the quadrant, the angle or
bearing, the distance, etc.

Check the manual or online help for all of the options for this routine. It
is one of the major routines contained within the Cogo module and there are
many ways to use inverse and many ways to accomplish the same task. Just
setup the software to your liking. There are a lot of options to pick from.

Thomas,

You can also draw lines and polylines using bearing and distance by
inputting the data in the following format: After executing the line or
polyline command and picking the starting point, @200<n25e, would result in
a line drawn on a bearing of N25E for a distance of 200'. Hope this helps.

Enter Deed Description (even with the dialog) is faster than any of the
above mentioned methods. The only other way I can think of is Extend By
Distance, but you need a starting entity and have get used to the prompting
for that command. But even that is much faster than the default AutoCAD
method (@123.5<S32d14'54"W)
