Layer Help

Postby Gordon W. Bell » Tue Dec 09, 2003 8:54 am

I am working on a large project where the base map is the same. We are
having to plot proposed boundaries and improvement locations on the maps.

I have put the different scenario boundaries on a layer and the improvements
for the scenario on another layer.
i.e.

scenario 10imp
scenrio10bnd

the problem is that I now have 20 additional layers to manage.

This is where the problem comes into play.

How do you turn off layers in model space and yet have them on in divergent
drawing views?

Right now, I have the layer turned on (the light bulb) and the unfrozen.

In the drawing I of course have the various layers off for all the other
scenarios.

The problem is that I have ALL the layers turned on in model space. This
seems backwards to me.
How do I set this up so that I can turn the layers of in model space but yet
have them turned on in the various views?

I appreciate the help.

I don't have Carlson survey, but is there a layer state command like in
Survcadd? If so, set the layers the way you want and save it for each
scenario. If there is no layer state command, then what about layer
filtering where you have the layer properties box display only layers
starting with scenario*. Then you could manipulate all layers off then turn
on the ones you need.

I'm taking a shot in the dark on this one without knowing the exact software
package. I'm really not sure what commands exist since it is a stand alone
package.

Before plotting - everything should be thawed and on in Model Space. Use the VPLAYER command to control layer visibility in each layout.
