Is there a reference that someone can point me to that compares the 2
products side by side so that I can see the limitations of 2004 compared to
my XML2?

Harley, the Cogo/Design module in SurvCADD is included in Carlson Survey
2004. Certain commands from the DTM/Contour and Section/Profile modules are
also included. This package is geared toward the surveyor and not so much
for those who are involved in design. However, the ability to do some
volume calculations as well as profile generation is included. The main
difference is like you are finding with xrefs. Some of the AutoCAD commands
are not included in Carlson Survey. It is a "scaled" down version of
AutoCAD. There isn't a side by side comparison of the products, but you are
welcome to visit our website and read the information on both products
there. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
