I have reviewed Autodesk newsgroup/support pages and can find no problems
with video cards, drivers, or antivirus software... now about your
software... I rarely ever had any problems with Autodesk Field Survey, which
appears to be almost identical to CS 2004, except for a few
additions/improvements. Why then am I experienceing several crashes per day?
Today I have been trying to erase points from drawing and have found if I
type in a range of points like 100-200 (it seems to only happen with 100 or
more points) it crashes and I have to reboot the computer before I can
continue working. I guess I can start keeping a log of what causes crashes
and what error messages I get, but don't beta testers usually get their
software for free? Many people ask me how I like this software because many
people are looking for an alternative to the pricey LDD/Survey software. So
far my responses have not been pretty. I have too much work to mess around
with figuring out why your new software doesn't work.

In addition to those tips - video cards and their drivers are to blame more
often than not. Check the Autodesk newsgroups/support pages for reported
problems with certain video cards - and make sure you have the latest
drivers.

Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your plotters/printers
etc. and that any antivirus software you are running is compatable with
the
AutoCAD OEM part of CS 2004.
If you are still having problems and haven't already done so, send an
anomaly report to the support team on the Carlson Web Site. They are
usually
pretty prompt at replying and may be able to pinpoint the source of the
problem more accurately.
