Question on requirements

Postby accal » Fri Apr 17, 2009 5:57 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to help a customer that will be using this software.

The recommended reqs say...

an Intel 3.0ghz processor - would you notice a large performance drop in an Intel P8400 Core 2 Duo 2.26G? There is a significant price increase to jump to the 3.0ghz. This is in a laptop.

Is Takeoff optimized for Quad core processors?

Are there any issues with AMD processors?

http://www.carlsonsw.com/PL_CS_takeoff.html

The recommended system requirements for Carlson Takeoff are similar to those of AutoCAD.

Intel® processor 3.0 GHz or greater
Microsoft® Windows Vista™ or Windows XP Professional (SP2)
2 GB RAM or greater
2 GB of disk space available, not including installation
1280x1024 32-bit color video display adapter (true color)
128 MB or greater, OpenGL®-capable workstation class graphics card.

Less capable machines (such as Pentium 233) can run Carlson Takeoff, but the results may be less than ideal.

Thanks for you help!!

accal,

The system requirements for Carlson Takeoff are defined by the CAD engine on which Takeoff is installed. The minimum system requirements for AutoCAD / IntelliCAD are:

System requirements for users who are focusing on 2D drawing creation are as follows:

Intel® Pentium® IV processor recommended
Microsoft® Windows Vista™, Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional or Home Edition (SP1 or SP2), Windows XP Tablet PC Edition (SP2), or Windows 2000 (SP3 or SP4)
512 MB RAM
750 MB free disk space for installation
1024x768 VGA display with true color
Microsoft® Internet Explorer 6.0 (SP1 or higher)

System requirements for users who are taking advantage of the new conceptual design capabilities are as follows:

Intel® processor 3.0 GHz or greater
Microsoft® Windows Vista™ or Windows XP Professional (SP2)
2 GB RAM or greater
2 GB of disk space available, not including installation
1280x1024 32-bit color video display adapter (true color)
128 MB or greater, OpenGL®-capable workstation class graphics card.
Less capable machines can run Carlson Survey 2010, but the results may be less than ideal. Sufficient swap space is also required to handle the installation of Carlson Survey 2010 as well as any data or drawing files saved. The use of additional memory or faster processors will directly improve performance and capacity.

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and Windows Vista 64-bit will allow application to run in 32-bit mode.

No Longer Officially Supported: Microsoft Windows 3.x or earlier, 95 and 98, NT.
