Digitizing Cross Sections

Postby stevenh » Fri May 18, 2007 12:15 am

I have Land Desktop drawing files that I am using Takeoff to create 3D
files for a contractor. My question is, How can I work backwards to create
a roadway in Carlson if I have the drawings that contain the cross
sections, but none of the original LDD design data files? Does that make
sense? I know I can manualy create points and then connect the lines, but
that is going to be WAY too time consuming. Can I "digitize" the cross
sections een if I don't have a digitizing tablet?

HELP!

Thanks.

stevenh,

In Takeoff R2 once you have created the section (.sct) files use the 'Section Utilities' - 'Sections to 3D Polylines' or 'Sections to Points' to populate the drawing with plan view 3D data. Connect the points or 3D linework With 3D polylines to help define the surface. Once you have the surface represented by the 3D data make your surface file using the 'Takeoff' - 'Surface Tools' - 'Triangulate and Contour' routine.
