possible bug in XML2

Postby Matthew Timion » Thu Jul 10, 2003 7:58 pm

Hello all,

I've noticed a few things that may be bugs in XML2. They are as follows:

NEARJOIN does not remember what I entered in previously. In XML1 I could
tell the NEARJOIN dialog to join lines that were in different layers (ie, by
unclick the "join only identical layers" box) and it would remember this
prefference for the next time that I ran the same command. in XML2, it
resets itself and does not remember this setting, meaning that I have to to
click the box every single time I run the NEARJOIN command, as opposed to
simply un-checking it one time.

OSNAP. For some reason XML2 is also having a hard time remembering my
Object Snap preferences. If I want to snap to endpoints and intersections,
I select the two, but I find that it will often reset itself to previous
settings whenever I run a command (Like LPOINT). This means that even if my
OSNAP is turned on, it either resets it's preferences or turns itself off
every time I try to add points. This causes me to have to reset my OSNAP
preferences every time I run the LPOINT command, which in itself gets rather
annoying.

Is this just me, or is there a setting I'm missing that tells SurvCADD to
remember my preferences for commands like NEARJOIN and OSNAP?

So is it resetting to previous settings (other object snaps) or is it turning all object snaps OFF?

I suppose either a change was made to XML2 to turn snaps OFF during LPOINT (is this documented??) -or- some code was introduced by mistake that turns snaps OFF.

It is actually restoring to previous settings. Basically, I think that the
new settings arn't "sticking." If I'm using LPOINT and change my OSNAP
settings to include intersections, the changes I've made to OSNAP vanish
once I'm done with the command. I've even had it erase any changes that
have been made to OSNAP settings since I opened SurvCADD, meaning that the
only consistant settings are those that were there when I opened the
program.

This is almost the same problem that occurs with NEARJOIN, but NEARJOIN
saves some of the settings (like the max seperationg distance) but does not
save all of the criteria check marks.

I don't think most of us have XML2 yet. Better call Support if you need a
quick answer.
