Inverse Area

I have a machine that is running windows XP and A-cad 2002 with Survcadd XML
and I keep getting this error when I use the Inverse Area command under the
cogo-area pulldown.

Exception in cogoutil.dll ARX Command
Unhandled Exception C0000005 (Access Violation Writing 0x695f7765) at
address 77C28EEBh

AutoCAD Error Aborting
FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Writing x695f7765 Exception at
77c28eebh

Any Help Appreciated

James,

I can sympathise for you.
We get "Unhandled Exception C0000005" errors when switching between modules
in SurvCADD (about 5-10% of the time).
I think the C0000005 may have something to do with licensing (?).
I would have thought Carlson would have an explanation of error codes.

Have you tried re-installing SurvCADD?

More often than not, video cards and/or drivers are to blame for unhandled exceptions in AutoCAD.

I would have thought Carlson would have an explanation of error codes.

This is on a brand new Dell with more than 2X the min requirements to run
cadd and if it is the video card that command is not used enough to merit a
replacement.

I failed to read your error close enough, yours references "cogoutil.dll", which is certainly a Carlson file. That doesn't necessarily mean that file caused the error, but it may point to a clue. Can you reproduce the error on demand? If so, Carlson should be able to help you.

I just mentioned video cards/drivers because AutoCAD is *very* picky when it comes to video hardware and the drivers associated with them. Double check to make sure you have the latest driver for your card. What model card is it?

I have updated my video driver and SurvCADD seems more stable now.
The Autodesk Knowledge Base site seems good for this info.
