Map 2006

Postby Terry Scanlon » Wed Jun 08, 2005 11:39 pm

We have installed Map 2006 along with SurvCADD 2006. We do not have the
Map top menu as we are accustomed to in previous versions. I have read
enough about CUI custimization on the Autodesk newsgroups to be afraid to
try to "fix" this. Can someone provide help with this?

Terry,

Due to the new menu configuration of Map (menu separation and
restructuring), the Map functionality is accessed by switching to the
AutoCAD menu. The functionality that used to be contained within the Map
menu is now spread over several pulldowns. This functionality is available
in the latest build (build 050525).

Terry, I think the key is in workspaces. Do you have LD or just Map? I have
a profile called MapLandDevelopmentDesktop which inturn has 3 workspaces,
Map3D, Map3D Civil, and Map Classic
I think you are after the Map Classic workspace. I will be looking into this
issue soon as I have LD2006, Map2006, Raster Design 2006, and SurvCad 2006.
This is a problem for us at this time. Switching profiles or closing
sessions is not good. I thinkWorkspaces are AutoDesk's solution. You can
import/export workspaces from one machine to another. I will update this
post once I have a good understanding of workspaces and profiles. JRL

It is just Map 2006, not LDD. After reading a bit of the Autodesk
newsgroups, I did take a stab at this. I will try to describe my attempt,
but it was last week, and it failed.

In OPTIONS, I set"sc18base.cui" as the Enterprise CUI, instead of the Custom
CUI.
I set custom.cui as the Custom CUI.
Launch CUI dialog.
I then partial loaded the acmap.cui.
When I drag the Map Classic Workspace to the worspaces under the custom.cui,
I get endless dialogs that stuff exists and do I want to rename, replace
et....I said replace several times...the replace all doesn't seem to
work...so I eventually cancel.
I then drag the Map menu item over to the menu under custom.cui.

I did several variations of this, and don't recall the details of such.
Things I achieved were:
multiple File, View, etc. menus...no Map menu...
no change in menus...
the closest I got to having the Map menu was Having Map and one other item
(Windows?)...and NO other menus....

After wasting too much time on this...I put everything back to how it
was...using the original files I had backed up.

Yes I tried to drag the Map workspace into the sc18Base.cui and got a
message stating that the map workspace alread existed. Only the carlson CUI
has no defined workspaces, so how could it already exist? Left me confused
and wondering why things have to be so complicated. I don't know if Map will
run correctly under the carlson profile. Maybe the CUI allows you to also
define profiles. Still waiting for time to look at this, or for Carlson to
chime in with some hints. Jeremy
