Sections & Road Design

Postby Mark Guess » Thu Oct 20, 2005 5:45 pm

I am experiencing a situation where, after designing a roadway, I am
trying to draw cross sections of the roadway with the existing ground
section data.

The problem I am encountering is that the existing ground sections are not
on the same stations as the roadway design sections, because the roadway
sections do not start at station 0+00 like the existing ground sections.
The roadway section stations are determined by the software at PI, PT, VC,
transition points, etc.

Any way to get the section alignment routine to read the roadway section
data for stationing?

Thanks
Mark Guess, PE

I'm assuming that the cross sections (design & existing) are at the same
physical location, but have different stations. I would re-create the .mxs
file. I usually start my alignments at 10+00, so I can back the stationing
up if I need to so as to avoid a station equation. I guess there may be
another way, but re-creating the cross sections is just a few button clicks.
Starting over from scratch might be cleaner. JRL
