Drawing sewer profiles in Carlson07

Postby MarkJZ » Thu Nov 30, 2006 12:20 am

I am having problems w/ the profiles being "linked" and not drawn
properly. When I chose to draw a proposed sewer profile it adjusts the rim
elevations w/o my approval. I have made sure the the "link" fields are off
yet when I draw the profile and choose the proposed grade polyline, it
automatically forces the manhole tops to a negative elev & inserts this
into my proposed sewer *.pro file. What can I do to have them drawn
properly and NOT edit my *.pro file?

By far, I have been using this program for the past 9yrs. and this
release is the worst. Why is it that the parts that work properly can not
be left alone. If the program designers wish to embelish upon things then
they should create an additional command so as not to interrupt
productivity by forcing its users into convoluted combinations of
commands. I understand that certain parts have been altered for the
betterment of many, although it seems that most have been hampered. I'll
end my criticism by saying that when you enter finite values, that is what
should be used, not altered by the program.

I agree with you 100% on not fixing the things that ain't broke.

However, a lot of the problems, especially with this command, are due more
to Autodesk's rearranging of the CUI and other issues. At least when you
talk to the Carlson people, they try to help. Autodesk has already said
they won't address these issues until the next (probably even more flawed)
release. Have you contacted support? They will help you.

I've also had problems with linking files, accompanied by disappearing
profiles or sections as a result, and especially with the myriad settings
for defaults. It seems like there is a way to assign a default font to
every type of annotation that SurvCADD can do, yet it ignores them all and
annotates in a font that I have never used, never specified, and do not
want. Plus, attempts to edit text created in the course of the 'draw sewer
profile' command result in the 'input-edit *.pro file' dialog box. So much
for double-click text editing.
