Data Collection

Well I just learned my first lesson for using the web based discussion
group browser. Do not click on any link inside the window or you will
loose ten minutes worth of prose. Nice way to start off. I will type in
note pad then cut and paste.

I would like for our field crews to be able to collect traverse and topo
data by coding and recording measurements, independent of coordinates. I
do not want them to have a coordinate file nor create coordinates in the
field data collectors. I want them to enter reference point numbers,
codes and record measurements THEN process in the office the field data
with the desktop software and create coordinates and Field to Finish
linework. The desktop software should be able to read a point number in
the coding then fetch the coordinate from an external file (crd or
otherwise) for processing. I have had this ability with other equipment
and software. Is this possible with carlson and the collectors I have?

Carlson software will require coordinates before it can start a survey.
