Place Drillhole Issue

I have been digitizing drillhole locations using the Place Drillhole
command and have run into a system freeze problem. The end result is that
AutoCAD freezes and will not release. I am forced to shut down AutoCAD
using the Task Manager. I do not get the autocad crash window but do
enter the recover mode upon restarting.

The scenario

I have tiff images of old maps placed in autocad scaled and rotated to my
site. I begin using the place drillholes command. after entering 10 or so
drillholes the system freezes up after I have entered the collar
elevation. I can let the system run for hours and it does not recover.

The drillhole placement information is secure in the access database set
up by SurvCADD but the information in the drawing is lost. In order to
reconsitute the drawing, I have to reenter the drillholes but then get
duplicate entries.

Any suggestions on how to reconsitute the drillhole data from the database?
