Creating Code Lists

Postby Jefro » Tue Dec 01, 2009 9:18 pm

I need to create a survey feature code list with multiple attributes. I see how to do this on my data collector, but it's very tedious. Is there a way to create one on the PC and transfer it to the data collector?

Yes you can. You will need to do it through the Field To Finish set-up. Go to the draw field to finish menu and at the bottom of the pull down click the tab that says "Edit Codes/points".
Now put in your codes and all the attributes and variables that you want. When finished save that file as whatever you want to name it, like "Code.fld".
Then hit the data collector tab under survey. Once you get to the Survey CE screen, you will see a box on the bottom that says "F2F Conversion". Click on that tab and convert your new *.FLD file to a *.FCL file. This FCL file can be downloaded into your data collector and will set the data collector and your PC on the same sheet of music.

Getting Closer

Thanks for the info. Now I see how to edit the code list and to transfer it, but I'm still having trouble creating custom attributes. I'm in the field code definition dialog and I click "custom attributes" and I see the box where i should enter these, but I'm not understanding how to enter. I want a field called "Condition" with some drop down choices like Good, fair, poor, how can I do this?
