I am a SurvCadd user. I previously used another civil software package. It
is no longer supported. In a discussion forum for that software, several
users have asked for suggested replacements. I have been strongly
suggesting SurvCadd.
Recently, a user of brandx wrote to request suggested civil software. The
following is his message:
"I have used <brandx> for the six years I have been employed at this company
and have recently been told to recommend a replacement because it is no
longer supported.
Everything nowadays seems to be AutoCad based, but NONE of them do what
<brandx> does. I am leaning towards Carlson, but in their roading program
when you try to enter point numbers in an alignment (like <brandx>), it will
CHANGE THE COORDINATES TO THAT POINT NUMBER sometimes. Mostly if it is a
nontangent curve but not always. It changes the coordinates by hundreds
sometimes thousands of feet. I have been in contact with their tech support
and programmers for over a year and to this day the problem is not fixed. I
would be interested in your opinion as to what is a good replacement for
<brandx>."
I have not experienced the problem stated and was wondering if there are any
explanations related to this.
By the way, I first sent this to the support email several weeks ago, and am
a bit
dissapointed that I received no response.
