Label Arc has been fixed and the update is
available at
http://216.57.132.52/cgi-bin/nph-register1?email=&name=&enotify=&area=SurvCADD_XML
SurvCADD XML will also check for updates
automatically, but not every day (so as not to
annoy you if you open and close SurvCADD/AutoCAD
several times a day)
From now on, the complete list of what is fixed in
each build can be found at
http://update.carlsonsw.com/kbase_main.php?action=display_topic&topic_id=74
We are still looking into the Point Snap issue. I
don't suppose either of you have a screen capture
of this? If so, send it to me at
rmcswain@carlsonsw.comThanks for the nice comments.

I have just installed XML and only been playing
for 5 minutes, but I can
verify a few of Geoffrey's observations.
1. I am also using Autocad Map 2000i, but on
Windows 2000 Pro. Each
variable in the point snap display is separated
by a square for me as well.
7. When I try the LABARC command, I recieve
the following on the command
line, and no arc label in the drawing:
LABARC
Define arc by, Points/<select arc or polyline>:
Endpoint: (5148.17 5073.2 0.0)

Randall,
See below for original questions.
1. I am using Autocad MAP 2000i with WinXP
Pro. Each variable seems to
be
separated by a square ascii character.
3. Thanks, found it.
6. This was not addressed in your comments but
seems like a relatively
easy
patch?
7. Now when I try to execute this command it
aborts with an error. I
think
I might have a conflicting LISP routine. Will
look further into this one
before sending it to you.
Will be EAGERLY awaiting the select nodes
feature.
Thanks,
Geoff

I received my SurvCADD XML update today.
Overall i'm quite pleased with
the
new/updated functions. Here are some
observations from Improvement list
4/27/02:
1. Point object snap: Nice feature that
could be improved a bit. It
lists
"PT#, N:, E:, Z:, PT#, CRD file location:"
all on 1 line. Need to have
hard
returns after each variable. Also, move
points, erase points, etc don't
seem
to use this feature.
That's odd. Each bit of info *is* on a
separate line on every machine that
I
have seen it on. What OS and ACAD version are
you running. There is
obviously something going on that is making
your info display all on one
line.
2. Standard Report Viewer: I like the minor
enhancements but perhaps
this
could have an options to output a more
powerful editor. For now cut and
paste into another editor works fine.
This has been discussed. The idea would be to
put different report output
options in Configure SurvCADD.
3. Report Formatter: Where is this? What
functions use this?
This is not an actual command, but rather a
tool to format certain
reports.
Look for the "Use Report Formatter" option in
commands such as "List
Points", "Calculate Offsets", "Two Surface
Volumes", etc. Look in the XML
manual on pages 1-16 to 1-18 for more
information. Let me know if you
still
have more questions.
4. Drawing Inspector: Nicely improved.
5. Draw locate points: Nicely Improved.
6. Field to Finish: Could use a more robust
description with examples
for
using Companion Codes. I like the Attribute
Layout ID configuration,
but
this needs to be added to the main screen so
that multiple codes can be
selected at once and switched to a different
Attribute Layout ID. Same
with
"No Elevation". Otherwise, works great.
7. Label Arc (labarc): This is messed up.
It puts a degree symbol next
to
each variable, radius etc..
I don't get this behavoir either. Can you send
me an example?
Now for my major gripe. I switched from
Eaglepoint to Survcadd 3 years
ago,
quite easily too. Since that time I have
always felt that Survcadd was
lacking in one area compared to EP, select
nodes. I have asked for this
many times and it never seems to get
implemented. Simply put, could you
add
a feature to select nodes based on
description, elevation range, and/or
number range. Sort of a modified version of
the new Select by Filter
command. Also, incorporate this into the
"Edit Multiple Point
Attributes
(EMP)" command. An example: I want to move,
erase or modify all points
having a certain description, elevation
and/or number range. When I
issue
the EMP command and it asks to select
points, I would like to enter
something like desc="TREE" or 20-50, 80,
100-102, or elev<5.00. Toolpac
has
somewhat added this function but your forced
to create a selection set
(3 -
4 pop-ups for input), then issue the
Survcadd command and select "p" for
previous.
There are many Survcadd commands that
require a selection set of points
this
would be quite handy IMO.
Like I said, overall i'm quite pleased with
all the enhancements. I
appreciate all the effort put into this
version.
Geoff
Without revealing too much detail about the
future, let me just say that
we
are already working on some *major* features
to be included in the next
release. This feature list was compiled from
user wishes, tech support
issues, and our own ideas. A "Select Points"
tool is definitely included
in
this list.
Thanks for the comments
