MS Access - SurvCADD points

Postby Dave C. » Fri Aug 23, 2002 6:35 pm

Does anyone know how to link SurvCADD points to a MS Access database using
the standard AutoCAD Map database utilities? I know there is a utility to
export points to an Access database, but how do you set up the "link" so
it's tied to the drawing?

Label Descriptions of Points

Postby Scott May » Tue Aug 27, 2002 12:12 am

I am trying to label the point descriptions in the plan view with the labels
being perpendicular to the centerline at a set offset distance. The only way
I have got this to work is to use the sewer offset text command. however
when it says to input a point or a location the following problem occurs for
me. On point it shows me all of the code information including description
but if i click on the node of that point it does not give me the
description. Is there a way to select this without having to know each point
number. And is there a way to label all symbol points in this method at
once?

1. Attach the Database with the point info to your drawing. (Either drag
and drop from windows explorer or using the Map Pulldown-> Databases-> Data
Sources-> Attach)

2. Define a link template (Map-> Database -> Define Link template). Set
your key column to be a column that has the unique identifier for each point
(Usually the point number field)

3. Run the Generate Links command (Map -> Database -> Generate links). Set
the linkage type to block, chose the create database links command, choose
the appropriate link template, and match the key column to the appropriate
block attribute.

This is the quick and dirty. If you need more, let me know.
