Point Defaults

Postby Harley C. Pawley, PLS » Thu Sep 19, 2002 12:44 am

Is it just me or does CLAYER no longer work for the Points Layer in the
Point Defaults dialog routine? Running XML (08/29/02) & Acad2002.

I guess I should explain the last: Setting the default to CLAYER now
creates a layer with that same name and puts my point nodes and symbols into
that layer. The Block reference attributes are going into the proper layer
as if the CLAYER setting is working correctly there.

Can anyone else duplicate this? Will a fix be required? By the way, I am
running Win98 w/ the setup given earlier.

Harley,

I tried that as well, and got the same result. The routine created a layer
named "clayer", and the point information looks like this... ("DEED" was my
current layer)

Command: list

Select objects: 2 found, 1 group

Select objects:
BLOCK REFERENCE Layer: "DEED"
Space: Model space
Handle = 358A
Group = *A977
"SRVPNO2"
at point, X= 4681.5 Y= 5342.1 Z= 0.0
X scale factor 1.6
Y scale factor 1.6
rotation angle E
Z scale factor 1.6

ATTRIBUTE Layer: "PNTNO"
Space: Model space
Handle = 358B
Style = "PTXT"
Font file = TXT
start point, X= 4683.9 Y= 5343.3 Z= 0.0
height 1.6
value 78
tag PT#
rotation angle E
width scale factor 1.0
obliquing angle 0d0'0"
flags normal
generation normal

ATTRIBUTE Layer: "PNTELEV"
Space: Model space
Handle = 358C
Style = "PTXT"
Font file = TXT
Press ENTER to continue:
start point, X= 4683.9 Y= 5341.3 Z= 0.0
height 1.6
value
tag ELEV2

width scale factor 1.0

ATTRIBUTE Layer: "PNTDESC"
Space: Model space
Handle = 358D
Style = "PTXT"
Font file = TXT
start point, X= 4683.9 Y= 5339.3 Z= 0.0
height 1.6
value
tag DESC2
rotation angle E
width scale factor 1.0
obliquing angle 0d0'0"

END SEQUENCE Layer: "DEED"
Space: Model space
Handle = 358E

POINT Layer: "CLAYER"
Space: Model space
Handle = 3589

Press ENTER to continue:

I have found a more specific problem. When I draw a range of points in the
Locate Points routine, it seperates the point symbol and node into the
CLAYER layer. But, if I pick a point on screen to create, it places those
items in the proper current layer.

Can I get a response from Carlson on this, and a fix?

Harley,

As per our conversation and verification, this problem has been documented
and relayed to the programmers. Stay tuned for updates on our website.
Thanks for the report.
