Offset Line Label

Postby Dave C. » Wed Sep 25, 2002 12:55 am

When I label a line with bearing and distance and later come back and offset
the line, the label moves to the offset? Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,
Dave C.

Yes, we found that problem when we linked the linework to the annotations,
and have since unlinked and not used that option. I'm sorry to hear it is
still happening. Are you using XML? I would love to have them linked, but
it seemed to create more problems than we wanted to deal with. I hope
Carlson can remedy that problem.

Yes, we are using XML. We are in the process of trying to move from
Softdesk to SurvCADD, but we have been using "reactive labeling" for several
years. The grumbling from the trenches is getting louder.... It doesn't
really make sense to have "reactive" line labels without "reactive" curve
labels. I personally think that with a few minor improvements to "labeling"
and "tabeling" would put an end to most of the complaints that I am hearing.
It's hard to go back to non-reactive after using it for so long. Everyone
is looking at it as a step backward. (I personally like the reactors also.)
The only other main complaint is the "abuse" of dialogue boxes. My users
would like to be able to get at those commands that are three or four levels
deep, with a single command, instead of doing all the "clicking" to get
there.

How long have you been using SurvCADD?

Thanks for the input.
