SurvCADD XML - Equality Stations

PostPosted: Mon Mar 31, 2003 8:01 pm

Does SurvCADD allow for equality stations along a centerline? It has been
recommended that we break the centerline file into multiple files each one
starting at the new equality. While it is easily possible to do this, that
becomes a bit of a management headache and introduces a new source of error
for the unobservant drafter. Am I missing the command? If not, does
Carlson have any plans on adding this feature in the future? We in the
private sector know we do a perfect job and don't need equalities (hehe) but
that is a common site on DOT plans.

Thanks in advance,

As far as I recall, the CL file and all centerline routines that deal with
polylines
ask for the beginning station of the run in question.

So, I believe the answer to your first question is "yes".

What routine are you using that you believe you are "missing the command"?
Perhaps that will help direct you in the right direction for a solution.

Actually, I think James is referring to Station Equations (available in most
competing products) as it's described here:
http://216.161.62.248/ihsdm_public/html ... tions.html

This functionality is not in SurvCADD.

Not directly or automatically. But it would not be difficult to accomplish.

Taking the first example from the page you referenced:

One could station the entire 'old alignment' as a polyline

The NEW centerline would be a separate polyline. It's beginning station
would be 2+600.

The station equation at point A (3+300 Back = 3+200 Ahead) could be
easily achieved with standard SurvCADD station centerline routine.

I've requested this in the past as well.

Will it be a future addition to Survcadd functions?

Don't know - you will have to keep asking I guess. To the best of my
knowledge, it will NOT be in XML2.

I've requested this in the past as well.
