Hello all,

I am familiar with programs like Earth Graphic and Civil Image, but am still
learning with Survcadd. I recently imported a digitized section of my job
only to realize that I used the wrong coordinates. Is there a way for me to
translate these lines to the correct coordinates?

Yes, MOVE works great if you want to MOVE lines, but that is not what I want
to do. I need to translate the lines.

Example.

I digitized a job using coordinates (N:5626870.14, E:3246732.00) and
(N:562031733, E:3261077.90). Let's say that I realized that I put in the
completely wrong coordinates, making this section of the job in the wrong
area, the wrong length, and at the wrong rotation angle. I would like to
translate the digitized section by inputting TWO sets of coordinates
(existing, and proposed). The existing, would what current coordinates
were, and the proposed, obviously, is the corrected version of these
coordinates. This would, in turn, determine the angle of rotation, rotate
the lines, and move the lines to the correct location in the same step.
This could also compress/stretch the lines to the new coordinate set.

Is there an easy way to do this in SurvCADD like there is in Earth Graphics?

Points->Translate Points
or
Points->CooRDinate File Utilities->Coordinate Transformation->Align by Two
Pairs of Points

You could even use the Autocad ALIGN command if you want to translate points
and linework at the same time.

In the world of coordinate geometry, "Translate" (as you stated in your
original post) means to MOVE.

If you need to move & rotate, then you want the ALIGN command.

He wants to "align" AutoCAD objects (lines), not SurvCADD points. He will
have to use the ALIGN command as Jason suggested.

Randy,

What is the easiest method to align SXML points and objects at the same time
(1 step)? I usually align the points via SXML command and align the objects
in a second step via AutoCAD. Is there a faster method via SXML?

Also, will SXML2 have a robust select nodes command?
