This may be more of an AutoCADD question and not a SurvCADD question, but I
know that someone here will be able to help me.

My design consists of a ramp sloping into a pad. It's quite simple and is
all 3d. This ramp cuts through the topo, which is a small hill. I need to
find the daylight line between the design and topo. Here comes the tricky
part (maybe). I need the daylight line to enforce a 2:1 slope ratio to the
design ground. This also becomes tricky b/c I will need to calculate both
cut and fill slopes (depending on the area of the topo).

How do I do this with SurvCADD? Right now I'm calculating everything by
hand, which isn't that much fun. Any help would be appreciated.

not sure I follow you but it sounds like you might want to use a template and
process road design. with this you can dicate the slope of the ramp, the ramp
width and catch slopes, transitions and it will calc the cut/fills for you.

Thanks for the help. I was able to figure it out on my own last night. I
simply made an offset which enforced a 2:1 slope, made a GRD file for both
the design and natural, and then I had survcadd draw the intersection lines
between the two GRD files. It did in 3 minutes what it took me all day
yesterday to do by hand.

This is likely even easier:

In DTM module-
1. create a GRID file of the existing ground.
2. go to SITE top menu and select DESIGN PAD TEMPLATE
source of model check should be grid file
select RATIO for design slope format
the defaults should be good for the rest
3. follow the screen prompts to select the area around the 3d poly
4. select the poly
5. select the side to slope

This should be even quicker than 3 minutes. It will create a 3d poly for
the daylight line. Optionally it will provide contours, volumes and more.
