"SCAD environment variable set to> d:\scadxml2\USER\"

How can I query the environment variable "SCAD" ?
SurvCADD shows the message when a new drawing starts, but I cannot get "SCAD" using the lisp code (getenv "SCAD") !?

I need to find this value so that I can read the settings.txt file for a program that I am writing.
