Flicker when drawing

Hello everyone:

Just recently installed ACAD 2004 and all is great with a few exceptions.
One is, when picking on a nod, I am also getting the tip of the pntnumber
and the pntdescription. I have shut off the osnap and turned on the point
object snap. The problem is when I am doing that and drawing point to point
to point.... I get a really, annoying flicker in the screen. Any idea how
to get rid of this? Thanks in advance.

Try:
File>Preferences...>Display>Colors...>
Set color 251 for Model tab background

I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about but here's a similar 2004
complaint. You have hit on one of the most horrible changes to AutoCAD ever.
This is not a Survcadd glitch. AutoCAD, for reasons beyond mere mortals, has
decided that when node snap is turned on, now you also get the INSERTION
point of any text that the cursor passes near. It does this with insertion
snap turned off. This has created a nightmare for me, I draw final plats at
1"=100'. Hundreds of text items on the screen are almost touching. I cannot
move anything without turning node snap off. At the same time, I have always
worked in Surveying/Autocad software with node snap turned on. If you don't,
you cannot do anything related to surveying drafting, including annotation
between points. Pntno and Pntdesc are text attributes.

Totally agree Jack. This is a true nightmare. I surely hope with 2005,
this will be corrected. I have no idea what they were thinking.

Its fixed in 2005, but you have to change the OSNAPNODELEGACY system
variable. The 2005 default behavior is like 2004.
