Can SurvcaddXML be used with LDD?

Postby Doug » Tue Aug 24, 2004 3:57 pm

I would like to use Carlson's software with LDD 2005. I don't want to lose
the LDD commands, but want to gain some of Carlson's commands. Namely things
like "area by point" and "cul de sacs" and "lot layout". Is this possible
without messing up LDD.

Carlsonsurvey Desktop appears to have what I am looking for, except it
doesn't have the "design" menu from Survcad. The design menu has the lot
creation, cul de sac commands, etc. which is what I want. Also, some of the
"Annotate" commands from Survcad xml2 look useful. I called Carlson, but
they couldn't help. I even offered to pay for the additional features to be
added to Surveydesktop. The guy said he would pass that on to management,
but I don't think it will happen.

Keep on them, they are customer responsive.
Call the Boston office and talk to the programmers.
Keep bugging them about it....

A lot of Carlson Survey was added directly from customer requests.

BTW, the COGO-Design module worked fine with LDD2, and LDD3
I have not personally tried it with LDD5 - but I bet a person could get
it to work.

Thanks, I'll keep buggin them. The only way I could get it work in the same
drawing was to flip back and forth between the LDD profile and the Survcad
profile. I played a little bit with the Menu files, but couldn't get it to
work right. Maybe there is a way and I just don't know how.
