Lot Area Chart

Greetings All Ye SurvCadders,

I am using Survcadd XML2 with AutoCad 2005. I draw final plats and stake out
sheets mostly. I create lot file and use the lot reports to get the lot
areas that I put in my dwgs by clicking on "screen". I then insert a block I
have created called "lotchart" which has only the chart lines and columns.
Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this in one step, just like the
Curve & Line chart (table) feature?

Thanks in advance,
JackG

Work around:
-export the lot table as a TXT file
-open a new drawing, import the TXT file as a CRD file
-use [Annotate>Point Table], define headings and seq# and will get the table
Hope this helps.

Thanks for responding. I believe though that what I'm doing now is easier
that that. Perhaps this needs to go on the Survcadd wish list. If there were
an option to choose the line spacing when placing the lot report on the
screen, it would go a long way with me, because as it is now, I have to use
a lsp routine called "respace" to space all the lines at 16 (100 scale)
before I insert my chart block. A routine like curve table would be perfect
though, where you could choose what to put in the chart and where to put it,
spacing of columns, etc.

Happy Holidays,
Jack

I remember now wen we purchased 2005 it was solely to put the "insertion
point snap" back where it belongs, NOT in "node snap". I have been so busy
(we are somewhere in the top 10 fastest growing areas in the country), I
have not had time to experiment with the other additions to 2005, charting,
etc. My original point of the question was to find out if Survcadd had a lot
chart routine, and if not, why not? I want Carlson to implement one, so it
would be consistent with the other charting features in Survcadd. I
appreciate your help, I will try to figure out an AutoCAD "workaround" for
what would be an excellent feature to add to an already wonderful program.
Thanks,
Jack

I thought Carlson was implementing an API for points, lots, surfaces, etc.

If so, maybe the necessary data is exposed for use in a VBA or Lisp
program where it could be exported to Excel and made into a fairly nice
report.

Even if there is not an exposed API, aren't the .LOT files just ASCII
anyway with references to coordinates? If so, the API would not even be
necessary, and it wouldn't take much to put this together.

Unfortunately, software companies can't fulfill every users needs. That
is where customization comes in.

(BTW, We wrote our own tool to do exactly what you want, just not for
SurvCADD.)

I've had to customize some files to get reports - Carlson Software is "open"
enough to do this.
Have you requested this be added to Carlson's "To-do" list?
I make detailed requests quite a bit.

It's a pity this "To-do" list isn't for public display

For what its worth, the routine Jack is asking for would be very helpful to

us too. Furthermore, we are not running Acad 2005. So, it would be really
nice if Survcadd could produce a table that listed lot number and area.

Heck, to really run with an idea, it would be neat if any tablular report
could be inserted in the drawing as a table.

If you are using LD2005 you can export alot of the Survcad data to XML, then
report it in the AutoCad Land XML Reporting 5. If you are good at XML, you
can create terrific reports. Something to look into. JRL
