Stalls/Parking Layout

I am an ex-ldd/civil design user that just started with Survcadd.

I want to know how can I automatically generate parking stalls and labels
using survcadd. It can be done with autodesk ldd/civil design just wondering
if survcadd had any modules included for this.

Thanks!

Under the Design menu of the Cogo/Design module of SurvCADD the command
parking is available. It isn't a real fancy command but it will draw stalls
based upon stall length and width between points, along polylines or based
upon the number of stalls desired. There aren't any automated annotation
routines with this routine however. What would you have in mind for the
labels? We may just slap it in the program. Email me an example if you
want.

Thanks Barkley.

I am looking to automatically label the parking spaces

Ex.: 25 spaces

using the current drawing text style.

Thanks Barkley.

Ex.: 25 spaces

using the current drawing text style.

Here's a tip I use:
Create a dimension style named Parking
Check boxes to suppress dimension and extension lines
Set units to no decimals
Set Measurement Scale to 1/(space width)

Works pretty well except on spaces on a tighter curve.
If you expand or trim a row of parking, the count will automatically update.
Just watch out for the handicap spaces.

If one has Toolpac from Dotsoft, one can get total counts pretty quick:
copyclip the Parking dimensions to a new drawing and explode them twice
(single line text required)
use DSTP_ANNOEVAL (annotation numeric evaluation) to get the sum of all the
dimensions.

Awesome!

It works well!

Thank you Terry.

What do you do when the parking spaces are on an arc shaped curb?

I tried dimensioning the arc but I get degrees instead of the actual parking
spaces number.

Any suggestions?

I drop back and punt. Parking on arc is the situation where my workaround
can fail miserably. I go back to manual (count em) there.

LOL

I went back to the old manual count method...

thanks for your reply anyway.

I have a suggestion on automatic labels for parking. How about simply
using the current text style and prompting for a beginning number (label
for the first space in the row) and automatically calculating the total
(automatic label the last space in the row).

Example:

I already have 20 spaces in the drawing.
draw a row of parking - 10 spaces total.
Automatic prompt asks for starting number - I input 21.
It labels first space 21, and last space 31.

that would be mighty nice. should work on arc-fit spaces, as well.
