SID files

Can SID files be inserted into a drawing without using MR SID or any other
program to convert it into a TIFF? If SID files can be brought in how do you
get Autocad to insert it into its coordinate system?

I think Map handles SID files, but is there a way to use it in Vanilla
Autocad?
