Dear Fellows:

I am posting this in the hopes that someone will understand and appreciate
my dilemma.

I am currently switching over from LDD to SurvCadd. One of the missing
elements in the SurvCADD user manual is a Forward and Preface. Also
missing is a clear indication of intentions of the manual and of the
program.

Having learned LDD, and been through several versions, the order of
certain operations seem very clear and concise in LDD. Not so within
SurvCAdd, the manual hasn't much order in this aspect.

I see the potential advantage of SurvCadd's Polyline and DTM commands;
but, am unclear as to their application in the CAD approach.

Any relpies would be appreciated.

Most of the software and equipment manuals I have do not include such prose
as a forward or preface. I suppose my HP calculator manual assumes the user
already knows the intentions of using a calculator. I understand SurvCadd
is civil engineering software. I would hope the intentions of the program
are to facilitate civil design.

I have not used LDD. I was formerly a PacSoft user who learned SurvCad upon
joining a new firm some time ago. I have come up with an order of
operations base on my personal preferences, but I think SurvCadd allows one
to be somewhat flexible in one's specific design approach. All civil
software I have been exposed to requires a minimum order (if one needs to
solve a profile from a surface...one must first create the surface).

Is there a specific routine or task that you are having trouble with? I am
certainly willing to offer any experiences I have had with the program.
