grouping point entities

Postby Rick Stein » Wed Oct 25, 2006 7:59 am

Inside SurvCADD 2006, when I froze a point layer, the node, pnt no,
description and elevation all froze, (I have layers by descriptions
checked). After installing Carlson 2007, when I freeze a point layer, only
the nodes freezes. In the general settings I have Group Point Entities
checked. Is there another setting I am missing?

Generally speaking, an INSERT (an inserted block) resides on a layer,
and the components that make up the block each reside on their own layer.

If you freeze the layer on which the block is inserted, the entire
INSERT will be frozen, regardless of the status of the layers on which
the block components reside.

However, it is possible to freeze layers on which block components were
defined. In that case, only that portion of the block will freeze (i.e.:
pt no, desc, elev.)

AutoCAD's "Object Grouping" has no effect on this behavior.

Based on all that info - take a look at one of the point blocks to see
what is going on.
