point translation

Postby paul » Wed Jun 13, 2007 9:32 pm

Maybe someone here might be able to help me out with this.

I'm trying to create a couple of 2D dwgs for our client, one using a
project
datum and a second using the city datum which is -94.35' the project datum.

All the points are imported and drawn with the 'locate on real Z axis'
toggled off in the points default dialogue box.

In the translate points dialogue box I toggle off the 'ignore
elevations'and enter -94.35 in the delta z field and select all to
translate.

The result is some points nodes are at a minus elevation and all the point
attributes are above zero elevation.

It seems it is not possible to globally select all point attributes and
nodes and reduce to a zero elevation, each point has to be individually
selected and using properties set Z to zero.

Ideas would be appreciated
Paul

Thanks for your reply, where will I find 'Ignore zero elevations', there
is an option in the Translate point dialog box 'Ignore elevations',
however if I check this it greys out the the Z delta field?

You can use the "Change Elevations" routine on any file and change all the
elevations of everything (including points) to zero if you want. This will
also change the coord file, which I think is what you want. If you want to
preserve the integrity of your coord file you can just copy the dwg file and
set the coord file of the copy to a new file name with no coords in it. I'm
not sure exactly what you're trying to do, but this is an option.
