Thaw freeze Points

We are fairly new to Carlson. I understand one difference between CS and LDD is the absence of Autocad point blocks. The way our layers are setup it is very convenient to be able to freeze a particular layer by picking anywhere on the point block. I find when I do this in CS it freezes all the point numbers (if I had picked a point attribute) or all the descriptions ( if I had picked the description)or all the elvations (if the elvation attribute was picked).

Is there a way to freeze the layer that the points are on and leave other points ( which are on differnet layers) on? i understand that I can do that in the layer table but i am looking for a selection method as it is so much quicker.

I just ran a test here and with separate attribute layers in point defaults set to none, I am able to freeze the point on the screen and only the points on that layer are frozen. If you want to try and match up settings to make this happen give me a ring. 800-989-5028 ext 313

I found the problem. Well actually Gary Rosen did. I was using the Express Tools Toolbar which works differently than the carlson Toolbar. I have no problem when I use the carlson Toolbar.
