Point Attributes

Hello,
I see several posts regarding point attributes, but I'm wondering if there has been any discussion of (or if there's any interest for/against) Carlson handling point attributes more like LDT? We're in the process of moving from LDT to Carlson, with one of the main reasons being LDT's limitations in dealing with points. Ironically, one of the things I do like about LDT is the way it handles point attributes with its Display Properties functions.
Thanks,
TJ

TJ,
As someone who has never used LDT, how are point attributes handled there?

I'm with Terry, tell us what you want them to do and we'll find you a way. I have LDD myself and I don't have a clue how it handles points! I guess when Carlson runs on it, you never actually use the LDD portion.

In LDT, point symbols & attributes are all on the same layer (there are no PNTNO, PNTDESC, PNTELEV layers). Which attributes are displayed, their colors & sizes are controlled through a Display Properties dialog. Also, the attributes are not "fixed" in their locations. The standard attribute layout is similar to layout 2 in Carlson (top, middle, bottom). For example, if you turn the elevation off, the description doesn't stay at the bottom, it moves to the middle position. Just seems a little cleaner, more condensed way of handling the attributes.
I don't know, maybe it's just that I'm used to LDT. I've seen some previous discussions where people have talked about using mulitple sets of layers for different types of points, for plotting, etc. I guess this would also tie-in to FTF flexibility and may ultimately be a more flexible, dynamic way of dealing with attributes. I'm just getting to the point of bringing all that together in Carlson, so I haven't seen the results yet.
Thanks & sorry for the long winded reply,
TJ

The best way to get attributes and symbols set up in Carlson is with Field to Finish. We have other ways of doing it but they seem to me to be more trouble that they are worth. As for the attributes being not fixed, we don't currently have anything like this.

Thanks for the explanation TJ. It does sound clean. I do have some further questions though.
1.Are all points on the same layer or are the point blocks themselves still on seperate layers (building, ground shot, edge of pave etc.)?
2.Does Display Properites control attribute visablility by Layer? point group? Individually? Other? or All the above?
