Odd problem with points & symbols

I have had my f2f set up to place the symbols & point descriptions on separate layers & to separate them (i.e. not in a block). Today when i opened a job i started earlier this week all of my symbols & point descriptions were in one block, but in multiple layers. Using an explode2 command separated them again, but this was a time consuming process. I opened another project from earlier this year, made when my f2f was working perfectly, and the same thing happened, all of my points & respective symbols were tied together in one block. To further troubleshoot I did the same check on another machine, and to my dismay the case was the same. Is this a carlson glitch? Is there a fast fix outside of running f2f on all of my projects again? Or is it a simple Carlson setting that I'm overlooking? I'm using carlson survey 2008 standalone.

CTL+A on the keyboard to turn grouping off should solve this.
