Why?? "Ends"? That's plural. Are you saying that you want to select a line and then pick BOTH end points of the line for the annotation? Again, why??. The annotation routine collects the information for the label from the total line segment. I know that you can toggle on "end point" and get a double selection box and pick the end point of a line and it will label the line. But again, why?
When you select AutoAnnotate all you have to do is to pick ANY PONT on a line, polyline or arc and it will label the feature. One pick vs two?
Evidently I am not understanding what you are trying to do, but it sounds like you are creating problems instead of solving them. Please clarify what you are trying to do.
But then you can also use the "distance" command and pick both ends of a line and get the distance and azimuth /bearing of a line that way. It just won't label the feature for you. Or use the "list" command. That will not label the line either. You want labels, follow the prompts under AutoAnnotate and do it the Carlson way.
Adapt. Change is good.
