Symbol sizing issues

Postby Steven Boulanger » Sat Jan 27, 2007 12:34 am

We had added some of our own symbols into our symbol library and modified
the dwg for those symbols to be equivalent to the Carlson symbols already in
the library. We enter initial survey points, do some editing of the drawing
and then go back to enter more points and then new points come in at a
miniscule size (about 1/100th of normal) but carslon symbols still come in
correctly. When using the symbols in a new project, they come out at the
size we want and equivalent to the Carlson symbols. Any idea where some
other scaling factors are that might affect symbol size in this way?

Try playing with INSUNITS system variable
I had the same problem, when I set the variable to 0 (unitless)
along with the same variable for INSUNITSDEFSOURCE & INSUNITSDEFTARGET, I
get the results I want. other variables are 1 (inches), 2 (feet) and so
on. my reference is Autodesk support articles TS1053760 & TS30666.

The newly created and added symbols need to be 1 unit x 1 unit in there parent drawing file. Try purging the drawing to rid it of previously inserted block definitions and reinsert the symbols. If this failure only occurs in 1 (a few drawings) and not all drawings you may have corrupt drawing file - if so insert the corrupt file into a new empty drawing and try the insertion again.
