XREF's in Carlson Survey 2004

Is there a way to add an Xref into a drawing? The demo version reads dwgs
with xref's, but we can't seem to manage them like XML can....

Unless it was added to OEM2004, then no. Other than buying a
license of full blown AutoCAD, you could download IntelliCAD
and use it to manage your X-refs.

If you x-ref in a drawing with the same name every time, you
could create a template drawing that includes this x-ref
(without a saved path of course) - then use this template to
begin those drawings.
