TDS48, C&G SURVEY, MAP CODES

Postby Chris York » Fri Feb 22, 2002 7:03 pm

I have just recently learned what the MAP DRAW feature in C&G Survey with Intellicad does. Pretty slick stuff. My problem is that the data collector I am using, the TDS 48x, doesn't recognize the asterisk symbol (*) which is used in conjuntion with the map codes (BL*, CL*, etc...). I have set up my description table in C&G so that each map code has a number that corresponds with it. (FOR EXAMPLE 1=BL*, 2=CL*, etc...) This enables me to use numbers for those map codes in my data collector since it doesn't recognize the asterisk. I can then download my raw data, reduce it and C&G converts those numbers into the right MAP CODES (BL*, CL*, etc...) allowing me to use the MAP DRAW feature.

OK, HERES MY PROBLEM.

Since my coordinates have asterisks in their descriptions now, the TDS48x doesn't allow me to transfer data back to it.

DOES ANYBODY KNOW OF A FIX FOR THIS?

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Get a Psion or Husky with CG field Plus?

Gotta tell you I have both. The Psion and the TDS48. My associate has taken over my Psion. I can't get my hands on it anymore. In comparison the 48 is obtuse in the extrem

Chris I have often used an HP48 for linework to create an asterik use the times button by hitting it twice. Forget about the number codes and go to alpha numeric input works great contact me at the offive for mpore details

Use a text editor to replace the * with space

Use a text editor to replace * with space before you send the data to data collector.<br

Jeff,
I have tried using the times button twice. All I get is two spaces once the coordinate is stored

Eurika, what you need is the raw data file it shou,d have the asterik, Now that I reread your post I relize that I have never downloaded a coordinate file from TDS, just the raw. Take a look at the raw data for the mapping code asterik

The times shows up as an asterisk, but once the point is stored it becomes a space. It doesn't matter if I enter it once or twice. It doesn't show up in RAW DATA either. I don't know what the deal is
