Nava....I appreciate all of your ideas but it appears that my question has
long ago been answered.
"Is there a setting to detach symbols from points?"
The anwer unfortunately is no. So from now on I'm going to have to manually
insert symbols with the "insert" command. It's either that or keep
exploding them after insert, which makes for a sloppy drawing file.
Could Carlson please consider a setting to keep symbols and points
independent of one another? At least LDD prompts and asks you if you want
to delete symbols from description keys.
Thanks....Tom

- insert your symbols in a differrent layer than the points
- freeze the point layers
- wblock "myfile.dwg"
- erase "myfile.ini"
- open "myfile.dwg" that doesn't contain the points

Thanks again for responding. To me this doesn't solve the problem
though,
particularly since I don't like to keep the points in the drawing upon
completion.

Insert your symbol in a differrent layer than the points, freeze the
points
layers instead of erase.

That didn't work. I unchecked that box then brought in a u pole
symbol
on
top of an existing point. When I erased the point from the drawing
it
still
erased the pole as well.

Don't check "Group Point Entities" in General Settings window

Is there a setting to detach symbols from points? For instance,
if
I
insert
a utility pole symbol into a drawing and then later erase the
points
from
the drawing, the u.pole symbol disappears with the points (which
I
don't
want it to do obviously).
Thanks....Tom
