Setting Heirarchy

Postby james » Wed Nov 29, 2006 6:51 pm

Can anyone out there tell me which settings take precedence in the event
of a conflict?

There are several places where one can change settings like drawing scale,
or the wording for a particular label, layer assignments, or the font.
There are so many that I sometimes wonder how SurvCADD sorts out conflicts
when they happen.

One problem I am having is that when using one particualr command, it
always defaults to the 'standard' text style even though I have set all of
my styles to be 'Romans' in every dialog box I can find. There is no
option within the context of this particular command (Draw Sewer Profile)
to change text settings. I can't figure out why it's giving me 'standard'.

This isn't the only example, but it's the easiest one to explain on the
web. Does anyone know of documentation describing the settings heirarchy,
if one exists? I've been all through the manuals with no success.

Make Romans the "standard" Text Style --End of Problem

Thanks, but we don't use the 'standard' text style. Too many people send
us drawings and they all have a different font specified for 'standard'.

Plus, your solution is a work-around, it's not an end to the problem so
much as a way to avoid it. I shouldn't have to avoid it. I want to know
what is causing this to happen, becuase it worked differently in previous
versions.

The point is that I have told SurvCADD, in every dialog box I can find, to
use a different text style than 'standard', yet it does not. At least not
for this command. Other commands that add annotations seem to be doing OK
but I rarely use them so can't be sure. However, the 'Draw Sewer Profile'
command is one I use constantly. I can't figure out if there is a setting
somewhere that I'm missing, which I doubt, or if perhaps there is a
variable somewhere that tells SurvCADD where it should get its defualts,
which sounds possible.

Any one else out there with any ideas what is causing this?
