THANK YOU XML FOR ADDING AN OPTION TO INPUT RADIAL BEARINGS FOR NON-TANGENT
CURVES! HOWEVER, WE NEED IT TO ALSO ALLOW AN OPTION TO INPUT THE DELTA ANGLE
IN ADDITION TO THE RADIUS VS. THE ARC LENTH & RADIUS OPTION NOW. OF COURSE,
THIS ONLY CREATES A DIFFERENCE WHEN DEALING WITH SMALL RADII, WHICH WE DO
QUITE OFTEN IN SUBDIVIDED LOTS. PLEASE ADD THIS TO AN IMPROVEMENT WISH LIST

Thanks, Randall, for your response. The option to enter the Delta Angle
is
not given for non-tangent curves. Once it asks for chord or radial
bearing,
it then asks only for arc length.

Harley,
You can input the radius and delta angle, see a portion of the
prompting
below:
Undo/Exit/Curve/<Bearing (Qdd.mmss)>: C
Radius: 150
Curve direction [Left/<Right>]? R
Non-tangent/Reverse-tangent/Bearing/Chord/DeltaAng/Tangent/<Arc Len>: D
Enter Delta Angle (ddd.mmss): 40
Is this not what you mean?
Thanks,

Harley,
Was that option available in an earlier version of SurvCADD? I'm a new
user, and still struggling with geometry input. Is there a simple way in
SurvCADD to just input a line by bearing and distance without going into
the
"Deed Input"? I still think it's awkward to input the quadrant and
direction on the same input line. (just visually hard to check my input
with that extra number in the bearing.)
Thanks,

Dave,
The option has never been available to my knowledge. We first bought
SurvCADD 2000 and up until now the only input option for non-tangent
curves
was a chord bearing. Once they add the delta angle option, it will have
everything we need to perform a map check. In this locality (state of
Washington) we show define non-tangent curves w/ radial bearings.
As far as I know, the Deed Input is the simplest way to create a line at a
specific bearing and distance. I'm used to including the quadrant with the
bearing - which originates from our old C&G DOS program input. Other
methods such as Locate by Bearing in the COGO menu ask for the same type
of
input, but also require points to be created. Someone at Carlson may know
of the method of input you would like. We find that it's much faster to
input the quadrant included rather than picking an option in a dialogue
box
like we found Eagle Point required.

Yes, in that you would traverse the radial bearing and radius length to
the
radius point, reverse direction, then turn delta (Ahh.mmss for CW or
A-hh.mmss for CCW) and traverse up the radius length.
Personally, when doing a plat check, I create a new drawing (usually <job
number>platclose.dwg) and set a new crd file (usually <job
number>platclose.crd) and use the traverse command. When I get to a
non-tangent curve, I traverse to the radius point, reoccupy the PC, go
back
into Traverse, Arc, and specify the point number previously set for the
Rad
Pt, then use the Delta.
If there is an easier way, I'm not averse to change!
